SMS: links from browser to RC Windows Desktop App?

We're trying to integrate SMS: links in our internal web app to trigger the Windows desktop RC app to be able to send out a SMS. We can use tel: links for placing calls just fine, but when sms links are clicked, the RC app isn't one of the options Windows presents the user.

We also tried the rcapp:// urls, but that doesn't open the correct RC app.

Are standard SMS links supported, or is there another scheme for opening this specific app, or some other trick to get Windows to recognize and link sms links to the standard desktop app?
