Softphone login from a developer account

I was trying to implement this: https://medium.com/ringcentral-developers/build-a-real-time-phone-conversation-analytics-455f1d7f0e23

I am trying to login to the windows softphone using the developer account credentials. Is there no way other than testing a VoIP based service outside of sandbox? It's quite limited to what I can do given what my real account actually has.
