Sandbox with RingCentral webphone: dial out free?

Hi,

I want to test the RingCentral WebPhone: https://github.com/ringcentral/ringcentral-web-phone

If you follow the link then you will find a paragraph that describes the following "Since WebRTC enables dialing out, you need to have a DIGITAL LINE attached to an extension to use this capability".

Which is followed by "A limited number of Digital Lines are free with each sandbox account which can be configured with the free RingCentral for Desktop softphone."

I would like to setup the example app so that I can make use of all the functionality including dialing out. I have followed some RingCentral KB links such as:

https://support.ringcentral.com/article/6266.html#AddingDL

https://success.ringcentral.com/articles/RC_Knowledge_Article/5-10-Adding-Phones-to-other-extensions...

The problem is however that I only seem to be able to continue if I choose an option that requires me to buy a number.

My question is: is it is possible to make use of the dial out functionality for free using my Sandbox account? If so, how do I do this?

Thanks in advance.

Since this question is not directly about programming. It's better to post it here:  http://community.ringcentral.com/

Yes, you can test the web phone with your free sandbox account. Just did it before.

Hi Embbnux Ji,
Could you elaborate your answer? Did you manage to use dial out within your Sandbox account and if so did: did you have to buy an additional number or is there a free number for sandbox?

I cannot get dial out to work using the API. Seems like the free account does not have access to the Desktop app either. Will comment here if I do figure out a way to test dial out.

Developer sandbox tools

Using the RingCentral Phone for Desktop, you can dial or receive test calls, send and receive test SMS or Fax messages in your sandbox environment.

Download RingCentral Phone for Desktop:

Tip: switch to the "sandbox mode" before logging in the app:

  • On MacOS: press "fn + command + f2" keys
  • On Windows: press "Ctrl + F2" keys
