RingCentral Video Transition
Those moving from RC Meetings to RC Video, please test performance of meetings thoroughly. Start meeting with a few staff members, turn video ON for everyone and then start sharing screen. If your audio breaks up or have poor video performance, contact RingCentral before you go live with RC Videos.
We use RC Video and have seen performance issues across a group of users who use meetings a lot. If a presenter has video ON and they share their screen, audio distorts and meeting becomes unusable. The only workaround we have found is to turn video OFF, but that's not what users want. So, please test! We are looking for a solution from RingCentral for that problem.
We are new to RC as of a few weeks ago and started our team using RCV. Besides having problematic video freezing (no problems when the same users used Google Meet), we miss having features already found in Zoom and MS Teams. Finally realized some of those features are in the older RCM app. I'd prefer not to have our team install RCM to get a better virtual meeting experience, so how much longer until the quality and features of RCM match what is out there with Zoom and MS Teams?! I understand it's on your development team's radar, but it would be good if there could be a posted rollout plan as to when the upgrades and performance improvements are coming. Would rather not hear that we didn't make a good choice with RC because its RCV is behind other offerings. In this world of working virtually, it's a critical feature for us.
@Mallard Owen do test RC Video thoroughly. If you are coming from Zoom, RC Video may not be well accepted by staff due to difference in quality and features. RC Video performance with video ON and screen sharing ON can break up audio adding to the frustration. One workaround is to turn off video, which your users may or may not be OK with.
@Chirag Shukla Thanks for the suggestion, and we have done that. Doesn't help, though, when you're trying to build culture/connections with distributed workers. RC HAS to realize that this is a critical tool seeing how we have shifted to more remote workers due to the pandemic. And, the future definitely looks to be blended going forward, so these are MUST have solutions for businesses. While I don't have to have best of breed for every application (there are many benefits to a unified platform), the bar for what customers expect/need for videoconferencing/collaboration has definitely been raised. Look at how much MS Teams is adding features almost every month. Which is why I think it was savvy of RC to acquire GLIP, and we're using that quite a bit. I hope they're putting a ton of effort into making this new unified RingCentral app a great solution, not just in features but in performance.
Yes, that's very well said, @Mallard Owen. RingCentral definitely has to do a better job with RC Video especially as the bar for video conferencing is higher now than ever before.
As above in the comments, we are still trying to find out if RC Meetings will be available after the RC Video migration. I haven't gotten an answer here or from my account manager, who I emailed Monday night but was on a call with him a couple weeks ago and he didn't have the answer.
We have had groups on a call with RCV and have video or audio issues and they have jumped onto RCM and not had the issues. People are rightly concerned that we will be stuck if RCM not an option. I have to think the RC has a plan here--either we will still have RCM for a certain period, or we won't.
Were you able to figure out if RC Meetings will still be available?
You better not try to "upgrade" me until remote control is available in RCV.
Make sure to connect with your account manager to make sure they understand your needs.
We're glad to help with that. Please reach out to us at Community.Support@RingCentral.com
I received the notice. When will "RingCentral Meetings" be retired?
Thanks
I had same question. @Becky-Community_Manager, RC team has been great about following up on quality issues but even they didn't know when RC Meetings was going away. Can you tell us if we will have access to RC Meetings after our changeover date, or only RCV?
Mitch, sorry for the delay in my response. My understanding is that you are not able to toggle back and forth from one to the other after you have migrated to RCV.
I appreciate the work RC is putting into the new platform, and like how it works. BUT THE CALL QUALITY is killing us. My users are having to end RCV calls, and pick them up on RC Meetings, Zoom, Teams. Many intermittent dropped frames such that you keep having to have people repeat what they said. We've had access to RCV on beta for quite a few months. We've gotten notice we are being moved to RCV starting 4/19.
Once that happens, will we still have access to RC Meetings? I'm concerned if we move to RCV and everyone has these quality issues, the team will be soured on RC and avoid using it.
Is RC getting reports of meeting quality issues on the new platform? Are we not on the "real" platform since we are on beta?
@mitch-turner I am certain that RC Video related issues have reached their executive branch and it appears they are working on fixing the issues but the end is not in sight just yet. You are right that the quality of RCV has to improve. In one of my comments below, I mention of a workaround which isn't ideal but will alleviate some users' issues. If a user turns OFF their video while sharing screen, there is a high chance that the audio will work reasonably well. We have the same issue as the ones mentioned in this thread but they are very sporadic. Only some users have those issues. Unfortunately, those are the users who have a hard requirement of having video ON while screen-sharing - and that's not unreasonable of them to expect.
Hey, @mitch-turner - Thanks for sharing this feedback.
We're looking into this with the RCV team and we've been in touch with your Account Manager.
We'll get some answers and connect with you soon.

So I just discovered that the "better" RingCentral Video does NOT include remote control. Why was the remote control feature left out of the "better" RingCentral Video product?
Hi Robert, Thanks for pointing this out. Our Product Team is aware of this and it's currently on the roadmap. We will provide updates when there is confirmation of timeline.
What's the timeline on the upgrade, and will the SuperAdmin's be notified?
The Ring Central Video is not syncing with the mobile and the desktop with scheduled meetings. This is not good as I join in from both devices to be able to do the recording and the last Ring Central Meetings was able to do this so it was very easy to join the meeting from the any device I am logged into. I thought I lost my scheduled meeting this morning that was scheduled yesterday using the mobile app but since there was no sync to the desktop application it seemed as if I never scheduled the meeting at all. I had to go to my google calendar to get the link to be able to join the meeting from my desktop. This was not the case before using Meetings application.
Hi Joe,
We're migrating accounts in waves January through April. Your account manager will have more details for your specific dates. Admins will be emailed with additional information when their account is up for upgrading.
Hmm. I have Super Admin access and I did not get any notification. I notice the change one day.
